The Community Summit strives to be an inclusive event that brings together diverse representation from across the WordPress open source project. To ensure that finances are not a barrier to attendance, the Community Summit established a travel assistance fund for attendees who otherwise might not be able to participate in the Summit.
Thanks to the Community Summit travel fund, 38 Community Summit attendees received a total of $48,000 in travel assistance, in the form of roundtrip transportation, hotel stay, or both. The travel fund is providing a total of 66 hotel nights for 22 people ($16,500 toward hotel rooms); and more than $31,000 toward roundtrip transportation for 24 people.
The travel fund is crucial to our community’s commitment to inclusion. We’re grateful to our sponsors for their support, and proud of the positive impact this fund has on ensuring broad participation in the Summit.
